EZAlign for older-style SCTs

Designed to fit fork mounted SCTs with ribbed forks.  Will not fit the newer fork arms with enclosed housings (see below).  Attaches to one of the fork arms with a "U" bracket and setscrews.  (Specify telescope model.)

NOTE

Due to the design of the fork arms, the EZAlign for SCTs will not fit the following telescopes:  Bausch & Lomb, Celestron NexStar Series, Meade ETX Series, Meade LX90, Meade LX200GPS Series and Questar.

In the picture at left, the bracket (right) attaches to the fork arm of an SCT.  It holds the circuitry, battery and auto shut-off switch.  The coiled cord goes from the electronic circuit to the illuminated reticle.  Other versions of the EZAlign are similar with the shape of the bracket being the main difference.  The GM-11 version does not include a bracket since the Losmandy mount is designed to accept the scope itself.

The EZAlign is shown here mounted on an SCT fork arm.  Protective caps are on both ends of the scope.

This reticle is designed for both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.  Once the initial alignment is done, you can do a quick polar alignment by placing two stars in the proper positions in the reticle.

What is a Polar Alignment Scope?

A Polar Alignment Scope is a small telescope or tube used for aligning your telescope with the North or South Celestial Pole.   This alignment is necessary in order for the telescope to track the stars.   Good tracking is a must for long exposure astrophotography, to keep the image from blurring.  It is also make slewing and tracking much easier during visual observing.

What is an EZAlign?

The EZAlign™ is a polar alignment scope.  It allows a telescope to be quickly and easily aligned with the North or South pole.  A time consuming initial alignment must be made using the star drift method.  All later alignments will be as good as this initial alignment but far less time consuming.  To do a subsequent alignment, you simply rotate the scope to align the constellation reticle with your naked eye view of the sky then adjust the telescope mount to align two stars with the reticle.  The reticle illuminator includes an automatic shutoff feature.
