NOTE

The picture at left shows the MOTOFOCUS for a Celestron's 9¼ SCT ready for installation.   Except for the cavity where the knob resides, this is a typical SCT MOTOFOCUS installation.

These pictures show the steps to install the Celestron 9¼ SCT MOTOFOCUS.  1) Remove the original focus knob and cover plate (top left).   2) Install the replacement knob (top right).  3) Install the replacement cover plate and attached collar (bottom left).  4) Place the motor sleeve over the collar and tighten the thumb screw (bottom right).  5)  Plug in the hand unit and you are ready to go.  It's that easy!

MOTOFOCUS is especially important for the ETX when viewing near Zenith (in Alt/Az mode) because it is very hard to reach the focus knob at this position.  We use miniature motors (motor and gear box size is 1" x 0.5" x 0.375"!) for a very small package.

MOTOFOCUS Conversion Kit

Includes the necessary hardware to convert most current MOTOFOCUS units for use on a different telescope.  Does not include the motor, cable or hand unit.  Cannot convert between SCT and Rack-and-Pinon styles.  Will not convert to or from ETX and NexStar MOTOFOCUS units.  (Specify information regarding the ORIGINAL and DESTINATION telescope models.)

SCT conversions include (as necessary):  sleeve, collar, coupler, knob, setscrew and hex wrench.
Rack-and-Pinion conversions include (as necessary):  bracket, coupler, shaft expander, setscrew and hex wrench.
